17.8 The Kings of Judah

The following is a chart of the kings of Judah, and their relation to the Covenant. Early in the list were four good kings, David, Solomon, Asa, and Jehoshaphat. These kings were good, but not perfect. Following this there were only two more good kings "Hezakiah and Josiah. All the rest were wicked and idolatrous, leading the nation deeper into apostasy until there was no remedy, and they were taken into captivity by Babylon.

| Athaliah | 1 | Wicked, daughter of Ahab. Killed all the kings sons except Joash. |

| Jotham | 16 | an OK king. He entered not into the temple, people did corruptly. |
| Ahaz | 16 | A weak idolatrous king. Judah ravaged by repeated invasions. |
| Hezekiah | 29 | Covenant made. Temple service restored. Passover for Judah and Israel. |
| Manasseh | 55 | Idolatrous king. Captured by Assyrians, repented, returned to Jerusalem |
| Amon | 2 | Wicked king. |
| Josiah | 31 | Found book of the law, covenant to serve God. Idols & groves removed. |
| Jehoahaz | 3 m | Ruled three months. Deposed by Egypt. |
| Jehoiakim | 11 | Wicked king. Taken captive to Babylon. |
