1. In Heavenly Council an agreement was reached on what was the “will of God.”
6 “Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

“The terms of this oneness between God and man in the great covenant of redemption were arranged with Christ from all eternity. The covenant of grace was revealed to the patriarchs. The covenant made with Abraham four hundred and thirty years before the law was spoken on Sinai was a covenant confirmed by God in Christ, the very same gospel which is preached to us. "The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham." The covenant of grace is not a new truth, for it existed in the mind of God from all eternity. This is why it is called the everlasting covenant. The plan of redemption was not conceived after the fall of man to cure the dreadful evil; the apostle Paul speaks of the gospel, the preaching of Jesus Christ, as "the revelation of the mystery, which hath been kept in silence through times eternal, but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, is made known unto all the nations unto obedience of faith” (Romans 16:25, 26, A.R.V.). 2. The Plan of Salvation made before sin and before Creation of this world was the “will of the Father.”
Isaiah 42:6 I the LORD (will)...give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, ...John 4:26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
John 4:34 Jesus saith ... My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

3. Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus is the center and focus of the everlasting covenant, a plan formulated before Creation to redeem mankind if he should sin. The following texts are listed with just the relevant phrase. The student may wish to look them up to read the context.
Revelation 13:8 KJV "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."
Revelation 13:8 NIV "the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world."
Revelation 13:8 AMP "the Lamb that was slain [in sacrifice] from the foundation of the world."

4. The Mystery from the Ages, now revealed in Jesus Christ. Why would God keep hidden the mystery of Christ and the Plan of Salvation? It seems that in spiritual things, men cannot understand all truth at one time. Further they must have a willing spirit in order to understand anything (1 Corinthians 2:14; John 16:12). Now, in our present age, God wants us to understand the Mystery of Christ. Please read the following verses carefully:
25 “Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
26 “but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him” (Romans 16:25-26, NIV).
6 “We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 “No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
8 “None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 “However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:6-9, NIV).
9 “and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

5. Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit
Canale, Fernando: Doctrine of God. Handbook of Seventh-day Adventist Theology. p. 140 - 151.
The plural form of God (elohim) is used in the Old Testament, but is not explained. Even though three persons are One God, this is not emphasized in the OT. Idolatry was a major problem in the Old Testament, and to emphasize the three persons of the Godhead, would to be to invite them to worship three gods.
Father, Son and Holy Ghost are named in the following verses:
* Isaiah 11:2 “And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;”
* Isaiah 48:16 “I (Jesus) have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me”.
* Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;”
* Matthew 3:16, 17 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”.
* Matthew 28:19-20 Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
* 1 Corinthians 12:3-4 “... No man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost”.
* 2 Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen”
* Ephesians 2:18 “For through him (Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father”.
The Term "Godhead" is used in the following:
* Acts 17:29 “... we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone,”
* Romans 1:20 “... invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, ... even his eternal power and Godhead;”

6. Sin is forgiven and cleansed only by the blood of the Lamb. (Hebrews 9:22)
Isaiah 43:24 I am he that blotteth out thy transgressions ... and I will not remember thy sins.

7. The Morning and Evening Sacrifice. A lamb was offered as a burnt offering morning and evening continually to atone for sins of ignorance, until the person could recognize his need and make his sacrifice at the sanctuary. The term “daily” in Daniel refers to these sacrifices, the continual burning fire, and the continued services of the tabernacle.

8. Atonement. This specifically represents what Jesus did for all men by His willing sacrifice on Calvary. Mankind was bought back, redeemed, and put in right standing before God. Thus we are told, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

10. The Promised Redeemer
“The earth was dark through misapprehension of God. That the gloomy shadows might be lightened, that the world might be brought back to God, Satan’s deceptive power was to be broken. This could not be done by force. The exercise of force is contrary to the principles of God’s government; He desires only the service of love; and love can not be commanded; it cannot be won by force or authority. Only by love is love awakened. To know God is to love Him; His character must be manifested in contrast to the character of Satan. This work only one Being in all the universe could do. Only He who knew the height and the depth of the love of God could make it known. Upon the world’s dark night the Sun of Righteousness must rise, “with healing in His wings.” (Malachi 4:2).
“The plan for our redemption was not an afterthought, a plan formulated after the fall of Adam. It was a revelation of “the mystery which hath been kept in silence through times eternal” (Romans 16:25). It was an unfolding of the principles that from eternal ages have been the foundation of God’s throne. From the beginning, God and Christ knew of the apostasy of Satan, and of the fall of man through the deceptive power of the apostate. God did not ordain that sin should exist, but He foresaw its existence, and made provision to meet the terrible emergency. So great was His love for the world, that He covenanted to give His only-begotten Son, “that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
