The covenant restored

Moses has seen God in the Mount. He desires that the people also share
in this experience. God graciously fully restores the covenant.

“And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
“Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.” Exodus 34:9-11

Comment:

This is an attempt to show the flow of events at Sinai. It is only an estimate. The Bible record is not always chronological. Sometimes the same event is described in different ways, and it may be difficult to determine if it is a second description of the same event, or two separate events. Events are examined to identify enough unique features to separate the events from each other. There is still the problem of timing. The time span of this effort reflects how long we, in this age, might go through these events. Quite likely, the time spans were much longer than are represented here.
